In 1777 work was started on a palace for Grand Duke Paul, heir to the throne. This is what evolved into Pavlovsk
This is one of the smaller Romanov palaces outside St Petersburg. It was very severely damaged during WWII and this shows the magnificent restoration
There is a historical introduction that concentrates on the War damage including a number of pictures of near total destruction with fallen walls, many gutted rooms , collapsed roofs and floors etc

The majority of the book is a celebration of the completed restoration
The book is large and some 250–300 pages. This is a very generous page count that allows the author to show a very large array of pictures of the palace- both outside and inside, and the park. There are a few gate folds. There is a floor plan at the back
